Join the 238 Plate Club to provide hunger relief in North Tahoe/Truckee

During Hunger Awareness Month, Sierra Community House is rallying our community to take action against local hunger. Our goal is to grow the 238 Plate Club from 49 to 300 monthly members by the end of June — helping ensure families across our region continue to have access to fresh, healthy food year-round.

For just $2.38, Sierra Community House can provide a meal to a community member in need. Through the 238 Plate Club, your monthly gift becomes a reliable source of nourishment and stability for local families facing food insecurity.

“Our objective is to ensure proper nutrition,” says Patrick Kratzer, Hunger Relief Manager at Sierra Community House. “We strive to change perceptions about those seeking food assistance. Sierra Community House warmly welcomes anyone in need.”

Unlike traditional food programs focused primarily on shelf-stable items, our food distributions prioritize fresh produce, dairy, proteins, and culturally preferred foods that help families truly thrive.

This year, our Hunger Relief Program is facing a major challenge with the loss of critical Farms Together grant funding that has helped provide fresh food to thousands of local households. In response, we are working harder than ever to sustain access to nutritious food for our community — but we cannot do it alone.

Food remains one of our largest non-grant-funded expenses, and rising grocery costs continue to increase demand on our program. By becoming a monthly donor through the 238 Plate Club, you provide dependable support that allows us to plan ahead, purchase fresh food consistently, and respond quickly when families need help most.

Together, we can ensure no family in our community has to choose between paying bills and putting healthy food on the table.

Join the 238 Plate Club today and help us reach 300 members this June.

Thank you for standing with our community.
